Outdoor Water Conservation Rebate Programs

Manatee County offers rebate programs to help property owners reduce water usage, save money, and promote sustainable practices. Combine rebates for up to $2,500 per property or $3,500 if installing an irrigation well.


How to Apply

  1. Pre-Approval Required: All projects must be pre-approved by Water Conservation staff.
  2. Submit an Application:
    • Log in to your CSS Portal and submit a request under "Requests."
    • Download and email the application to  water.conservation@mymanatee.org, or mail it to:

Available Outdoor Rebates

Alternative Water Source

  • Rebate: 50% of documented costs up to $1,000.
  • Install a pump to use a natural water source (e.g., lake, retention area) for irrigation.
  • Must disconnect irrigation system from potable water.

Irrigation Well

  • Rebate: 50% of documented costs up to $2,500.
  • Install a well for irrigation and disconnect from potable water.
  • Maximum combined outdoor rebates: $3,500 per property.

Reclaimed Water Connection

  • Rebate: 50% of documented costs up to $1,000.
  • Connect irrigation system to reclaimed water and disconnect from potable water.

Rain Shut-Off Technology

  • Rebate: 100% of documented costs up to $150 for one device:
    • Rain Sensor
    • Evapotranspiration (ET) Controller
    • Soil Moisture Sensor (up to $500)

Irrigation System Repair or Replacement

  • Rebate: 50% of documented costs up to $1,500.
  • Includes repairs for leaks, broken parts, retrofitting systems, and installing rain shut-off technology.

Landscape Retrofit

  • Rebate: 50% of documented costs up to $1,500.
  • Replace grass with Florida-Friendly landscaping.
  • Attend educational workshops and submit a plan approved by the Extension Service.

Additional Requirements

  • All projects must be evaluated by the Manatee County Extension Service before and after completion.
  • Receipts for work and materials are required for reimbursement.
  • Rain shut-off technology must be operational for all rebates.
  • Free curbside pickup of old irrigation components is available after rebate approval.

Eligibility:

  • Manatee County Utilities customer.
  • An in-ground irrigation system using potable water from Manatee County Utilities.
  • Average potable water usage over 8,500 gallons/month in the last 2 years.
  • A certified backflow preventer, no cross-connections, and working rain shut-off technology (or installation as part of the rebate).
  • Properties using reclaimed or alternative water sources do not qualify.
