Flood zones are not the same as evacuation zones.

FEMA maps flood zones for use in the National Flood Insurance Program. Flood Zones are NOT related to Evacuation Zones. Evacuation levels are based on hypothetical storm scenarios and take into account numerous factors beyond just flooding.

Look up flood zones

Use the interactive map:

  • Select FEMA Flood in the left sidebar
  • Enter your address in the search bar at the top of the map and do one of the following:
    • Find the matching color in the left sidebar
    • Click Parcel Info in the right sidebar and scroll down to "Flood Zone"

What do the flood zones mean?

  • A (blue) - Special Flood Hazard Area that is high risk for flooding and typically requires flood insurance. Does not have a base flood elevation established.
  • AE (lavender) - Special Flood Hazard Area that is high risk for flooding and typically requires flood insurance. Does have a base flood elevation established.
  • Floodway (pink) - Special Flood Hazard Area that is high risk for flooding and typically requires flood insurance. Floodways are always in AE, but are a more restrictive zone.
  • VE (green) - Special Flood Hazard Area that is high risk for flooding and typically requires flood insurance.
  • X (shaded) - Moderate risk area that does not typically require flood insurance. Also known as the 500 Year Flood Zone.
  • X (no color) - Low risk area that does not typically require flood insurance.
