Purpose

The Authority was created as a public body corporate and politic pursuant to the Housing Finance Authority Law, following the enactment by the Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Florida of Ordinance No. 79-6 on July 17, 1979, as amended by Ordinance No. 91-40 enacted by the County Commission on May 7, 1991, and a resolution declaring the need for the Authority to function adopted by the County Commission on October 30, 1979.

The Authority is empowered to alleviate the shortage of affordable residential housing facilities and to provide capital for investment in such facilities for low, moderate or middle income families and persons within its area of operation through the issuance of its revenue bonds for the purpose of providing funds to purchase mortgage loans to finance the acquisition of single-family residences.

Membership Requirements

  • This five member advisory board shall be composed of at least three persons who are knowledgeable in one of the following fields: labor, finance or commerce;
  • Terms are for four years.
