COVID-19 Update

Manatee County Animal Services is currently closed to the public. In an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), MCAS will be altering its operations with regards to intake at the center, in the community, and adoption of animals to patrons.

MCAS will be facilitating adoptions through appointment only. Click here to fill out an adopter profile and to schedule your appointment.

MCAS will still approve foster applications and transfer of animals to rescue. Residents can help shelter animals by signing up as an emergency foster to provide animals relief from the shelter environment. Individuals interested in fostering can do the following:

  • Sign up to be an emergency on-call foster by filling out the application.
  • MCAS will provide supplies, but we encourage fosters to start planning ahead and gathering resources in anticipation of fostering a pet.
  • Rescue organizations should call (941) 527-9915 or email haili.brooks@mymanatee.org to arrange pulling of MCAS animals.

If you have lost or found a pet:

  • Submit a Lost or Found Animal Report
  • Post the pet as lost or found on sites like Lost Pet Services, Nextdoor, Craigslist, and social media platforms
  • Hang flyers where the pet was lost & found, as most pets are found less than 1,000 feet from their home
  • If you have lost your pet and believe the animal is at MCAS, please call (941) 742-5933 to begin the process of reclaiming your pet

MCAS Officers will still be responding to calls of service in the community based on high priority level, which could include law enforcement assistance, injured and sick stray animals, cruelty/neglect complaints and dangerous/aggressive animals at large. Non-emergency requests, such as welfare checks and nuisance issues, can be submitted through www.mymanatee.org/311Officer responses will take longer than usual for lower-priority requests, such as contained strays.

Officers are suspending the pick-up of healthy cats for the next 30 days. The only exceptions are for a pregnant or injured felines. In these cases, please call (941) 742-5933 to speak with an officer.
