Manatee County to Host Aquatic Safety Public Outreach Events on Drowning Prevention

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 27, 2025) – In an ongoing effort to promote water safety and reduce the risk of drowning incidents, the Manatee County Aquatic Safety program will host a series of outreach events focused on drowning prevention. These events are designed to raise awareness, educate the community, and provide practical safety tips for individuals of all ages. All sessions are free and open to the public.  

These sessions will be led by experienced aquatic safety professionals and are designed to provide participants with critical information on drowning prevention, water safety practices, and rescue techniques that can help reduce the risk of drowning. 

“Water and swimming safety are absolutely critical,” said Manatee County District 3 Commissioner Tal Siddique. “No matter your experience level, there’s always more to learn about protecting yourself and others around water. We encourage everyone to attend these sessions and prioritize water safety.” 

Dates, times, and locations include:  

  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, March 28 at the John H. Marble Park Party Room, 3675 53rd Ave., Bradenton.   
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, April 11, the John H. Marble Park Party Room. 
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the G.T. Bray Park Movie Room. 5502 33rd Ave. Dr. W., Bradenton.  
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the John H. Marble Park Party Room. 
  • 4-5 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the G.T. Bray Park Movie Room.  
The presentations will include a variety of educational methods, ensuring that information is accessible to all. Participants will receive hands-on demonstrations of safety equipment and learn how to use these tools effectively in emergency situations. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of drowning prevention, the importance of safety equipment around pools, and proactive strategies to reduce risks. 

Manatee County’s approach to aquatic safety is rooted in comprehensive education and continuous staff training at all county aquatic facilities and splash pads. By prioritizing proactive water safety measures and community engagement, the goal is to ensure that everyone enjoys water activities with confidence and peace of mind.
