As Manatee County's newest public library, Lakewood Ranch Library opened on January 12, 2024. Currently, the Lakewood Ranch Library occupies over 25,000 sq. ft. on the first floor of the building that opens onto a spacious backyard space, plus another 1,200 sq. ft. on the rooftop for event space. The library offers programs in a wide range of interests and across all age-groups throughout the year and works to bring the library beyond our walls through outreach efforts to our surrounding schools, community events, Myakka and the rest of eastern county area.

Gold Star Memorial

Gold Star Memorials honor those who lost their lives during military service. There are approximately 275 Gold Star Memorials in the United States.

The Gold Star Memorial marker at Lakewood Ranch Library, the 14th installed in Florida, was sponsored by the Gardeners Out East Club and dedicated on May 4, 2024. Speakers at the dedication included Tina Tuttle, president of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Rosita Aristoff, Blue and Gold Star Memorial chairperson, and Stefenie Hernandez, the mother of Army Specialist Patrick L. Lay II, a Braden River High School graduate who died Aug. 11, 2011 while serving during Operation Enduring Freedom.

One of the most fun spaces in the Lakewood Ranch Library; the Outdoor Play Area is located in the Children’s Library and offers over 1,000 sq. ft. of fenced-in space designed just for our youngest patrons. Featuring a sensory table and flexible seating options, the Outdoor Play Area is a perfect spot to get the wiggles out before attending storytime.

The Workshop is a makerspace featuring specialized equipment and hands-on workshops. The space offers the tools you’ll need to build your next creative project, explore new interests, and create something original. Visit us in the east wing of the Lakewood Ranch Library to learn more about coding, robotics, 3D printing, music and video recording, sewing, t-shirt design, and more! The Lakewood Ranch Library includes a large Children's Room including all of the children's collections, a large screen for movie programs, seating, a Parents collection, and sinks for craft programs. An outside play area is accessible from the Children's Room.

Wellness Room

This room offers comfortable furniture and adjustable lighting for nursing mothers or just a quiet space to decompress when needed.
