Board Opening ImageMANATEE COUNTY, FL (August 8, 2023) - Manatee County is accepting applications for a seat on the Health Council of West Central Florida.

The Council—one of 11 local health-planning groups established by Section 408.033 F.S. in 1983—serves as a network for regional health planning and implementation services.

The Health Council of West Central Florida is a private non-profit agency governed by a Board of Directors appointed by County Commissioners to represent the concerns of healthcare consumers, providers and purchasers at the local level. The Council serves residents in Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee and Polk counties.

Membership Requirements:

  • Members shall serve two-year terms and may be eligible for reappointment.
  • The currently available seat must be filled by a healthcare consumer over 60 years of age.
  • The Council meets on the second Thursday of every other month at 3:30 p.m. at their 550 North Reo Street, Tampa, office.
  • Board members are subject to Florida Sunshine Law, Section 286.011 F.S.
