Manatee County accepting applications for two elected official seats on Tourist Development Council

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Dec. 18, 2020) – Manatee County is now accepting applications for two seats on the Tourist Development Council (TDC), a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the expenditures of Tourist Tax Revenues.

The TDC is comprised of nine volunteer members who make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners concerning the effective operation of the projects set forth in the Tourist Development Plan and the uses for which Tourist Development Tax revenues may be spent.

The TDC is seeking:

  • One municipal official from the County's largest city, Bradenton, to complete the term of retiring Mayor Wayne Poston's seat which expires June 30, 2024
  • One owner, operator or general manager of short term rental accommodation in Manatee County which is subject to the County's 5 percent resort tax. The term ends June 30, 2021.

Applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County. Applications are due Jan. 10, 2021 and may be found online.

The TDC meets on the third Monday of every other month at 9 a.m. at various locations in Manatee County.
