Manatee County, Florida – Manatee County is hosting an open house for an upcoming roadway improvement project on Moccasin Wallow Road from U.S 41 to west of I-75 in Bradenton. The open house will be held at the First Baptist Church of Gillette, located at 3301 97th Street E., Palmetto, Florida 34221, on Monday, December 2, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The open house will provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the proposed improvements to Moccasin Wallow Road. Guests will be invited to view design boards and plans. Project staff will also be on hand to answer questions and provide other project-related information. There will be no formal presentation and guests may arrive any time between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

This roadway project will widen 1.9 miles of Moccasin Wallow Road from U.S. 41 to west of I-75 from two-lanes to six-lanes (3 in each direction) when built to its final configuration. The interim phase of the project will widen the roadway from 2-lanes to 4-lanes (2 in each direction) separated by a 22-foot wide raised grass median. A 12-foot wide multi-use path will be constructed on the north side of Moccasin Wallow Road in addition to a 6-foot wide sidewalk on the south side and 7-foot wide bicycle lanes in each direction. Median openings will be provided to allow residential access and stormwater run-off will be collected and treated in linear ponds along the project roadway.
