MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 28, 2018) – Construction of the Anna Maria Island force main 5 Replacement project is scheduled to start along Gulf Drive on April 9.

Initial construction will take place on Gulf Drive between 28th Street and 26th Street and is expected to continue for approximately four weeks. Traffic will be shifted to the west to allow for construction of the new force main. This project involves construction associated with the replacement of both sewer and water lines, as well as modifications to existing lift station piping and connections.

Upon completion of that section construction on Gulf Drive will start between Avenue C and Cortez Road. Traffic patterns will be shifted to the west in this area to allow for construction of the new force main. Construction of this segment is expected to begin on or about May 1 and continue through June 29. In the event of unforeseen weather conditions or unexpected occurrences, planned activities may be rescheduled for the following day(s).

In both work zones, maintenance of traffic signs will be posted indicating the new vehicular and pedestrian/biking traffic patterns. Since both areas will be active work zones, speed limits will be reduced.

Work crews urge drivers to be cautious of pedestrians and bicyclists as they approach and drive through these work zones.
