MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Oct. 30, 2018) —Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS) will be open 7 days a week starting on November 1. No one wants to spend the holidays alone, including our homeless pets who are looking for a second chance at a forever home. Through no fault of their own, they have been rescued by MCAS and now await a warm bed to cuddle up in and have a loving family to call their own.

MCAS hopes that extending to 7 days a week at the Palmetto Location, will make visiting the shelter easier during this already busy holiday season.

Operating hours, starting on November 1, are as follows:

  • Monday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Thursday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Animal Services Division Chief Sarah Brown states, “Our goal is to have all of our adoptable animals in a home for the holidays. As we get close to the holidays, we will even encourage short-term fosters, to give our pets a few weeks in a loving home as we start the New Year. We will work tirelessly to get all animals in a home.”

Manatee County Animal Services is Manatee County’s only open-admission shelter facility, taking in an average of 10 animals per day in 2017. By never turning any animal away that comes to us (no matter the condition, age, breed or species), that average has increased this month to 15 animals per day due to kitten season, confiscation cases and owner surrenders.

Dog adoption fees are $80 and cat adoption fees are $40. All cat and dog adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and rabies certificate. Manatee County residents are required to license their new pet for an additional $15. The special promotion will be held at the MCAS located at 305 25th Street West in Palmetto and 1002 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton (cats only.)

The Palmetto Adoption Center and Shelter is located at 305 25th Street West in Palmetto. The Downtown Cat Adoption Center is located at 1002 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205, is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Animal Services can be reached at 941-742-5933.
