Manatee CARES Housing Assistance Program

Manatee CARES Housing Assistance (HAP) Round 4 will open on October 28, 2020.

The Applications will open October 28, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. and close upon receipt of 200 submitted applications. Applications will be processed on a first come, first eligible basis.

Eligible residents will receive grant funds up to the actual amount required to be paid on your behalf or the maximum amount allowed under the program guidelines, whichever is less. Funds will be paid directly to landlord or lender. Funds may be used to pay for landlord provided utilities that are delinquent (electric, water, sewer, and trash only). Landlord provided utilities can only be paid in conjunction with rent.

MANATEE CARES HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HAP) ROUND 4

Up to 200 apps will be accepted for Manatee CARES Round 4 funded thru CARES Act funding.

More residents may now qualify for relief help. Applicants who did not get to participate or were not included in the lottery for Round 1, did not submit an application for Round 2 or Round 3, or you were denied for lack of documentation in Round 1, 2 or 3 may now apply for Round 4. Residents of the City of Bradenton. May also apply.

When funding opens you will need to register through the Neighborly portal and complete the required application in its entirety. You must have a valid email account in order to apply and to receive status and notifications. Funding will be awarded on a first come, first eligible basis until all funds are committed. Assistance requests will be processed as quickly as possible. Due to the widespread impact of the pandemic on our local community, we anticipate a high volume of requests. Staff will contact you with the status of your request as the review process of submitted applications are conducted. Please be patient as this takes time.

Individuals assisted must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Alien Resident, resident of Manatee County including its municipalities, in need of assistance with past due mortgage or rent payments with landlord provided utilities due to COVID-19 (on or after March 1, 2020), have a loss of income due to COVID-19 on or after March 1, 2020, and household income is below the 150% area median income (AMI) level for household size.

NOTE: You can only apply for assistance to cover Coronavirus-related rent or mortgage that has not already been paid for by your insurance or by another federal program or other resource.

  • Delinquent on rent or mortgage payments due to COVID-19 (on or after March 1, 2020)
  • Have a loss of income due to COVID-19 on or after March 1, 2020
  • Current Gross Household income is below the 150% area median income (AMI) level for household size

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The following documents will be required to be submitted electronically within the application:

  • Letter or Statement from landlord, with company name, stating amount owed and months rent is due or most recent mortgage statement showing delinquent amount owed. Rent/Mortgage must have been current as of March 1, 2020. (*funds can pay for mortgage principal, interest and insurance but cannot pay for the property tax)
  • Documentation showing loss if income as a result of COVID-19 on or after March 1, 2020
  • Current and valid lease and contact information for your landlord (Landlord must agree to participate) or contact information for mortgage company/lender (Lender must agree to participate).
  • Proof of identification for Applicant Only
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Alien Residency for Applicant Only

Funds will be used for expenses incurred no earlier than March 1, 2020 and no later than December 15, 2020.
