$10 Adoption Fees for All Senior Pets Through November 30
and All Aboard “The Foster Express”

November is Adopt A Senior Pet Month, and Manatee County Animal Services (MCAS) is celebrating with $10 adoption fees for all senior pets through November 30. Currently, MCAS has 22 senior pets in our facilities. All fee-reduced adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip and rabies certificate. Manatee County residents are required to license their new pet for an additional $20.

Unfortunately, not every pet will find their forever family in time for the holidays. We believe every pet benefits from being in a home, even if, for only a few days; so, MCAS is launching The Foster Express, a short-term, holiday fostering program. From November 22 – January 10, you can take home a shelter dog or cat for 2 – 5 days.

“When you open your home to a shelter pet during the holidays, it will open your heart and you will learn so much about your capacity for compassion and caring. It’s what the holidays are all about,” says Division Chief Sarah Brown of MCAS. She concludes, “it helps reduce the stress levels of these pets as they become family members for those few, important days.”

MCAS is participating in The Foster Express Challenge, which was designed by Maddie’s Fund, a national animal welfare organization, to help shelters get more dogs and cats out of the shelter during the hectic holiday season, and get them more exposure, as well as attract new foster caregivers.

For all foster participants, MCAS will provide all food and necessary supplies. For more information, please call 941-742-5933 ext. 8314.

The MCAS Palmetto Adoption Center and Shelter, located at 305 25th Street West in Palmetto, is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Open Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. Manatee County Cat Town, located at 216 6th Ave E, Bradenton, FL 34208, is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Animal Services can be reached at 941-742-5933.

Holiday Closure Notice: MCAS will be closed to the public on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving.

MCAS is Manatee County’s only open-admission shelter facility, taking in an average of 15 animals per day in 2018. The mission of MCAS is to maintain public health and safety through the enforcement of laws and ordinances related to animals, to promote responsible pet ownership, promote adoptions, and reduce pet overpopulation. In October, MCAS had a 98% save rate.
