UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS (UAS) - DRONES

In 2018, Manatee County adopted it's first ever UAS policy and procedure. The program now boasts a team of over 30 Part 107 licensed pilots across the County's organization. Using drones in County operation has dramatically improved the speed to complete a variety of tasks, including:
  • Asset collection,
  • Building inspections,
  • Construction updates,
  • Emergency operations,
  • Environmental health assessments,
  • Irrigation studies,
  • and much more.

3D MODELING

Using a variety of mobile applications and tools, the Energy & Sustainability division identified an efficient and affordable way to use augmented reality to create 3D building interior models.

Having this building data on hand helps Property Management identify the organization's ever-growing space needs, improve security functions, and improves asset management tracking for maintenance teams.

Showcasing the County

Energy & Sustainability teamed up with the Parks & Grounds division to capture 360° images of trails – terrestrial and aquatic – at twenty County parks and preserves. The benefits of the project were two-fold, helping the division analyze maintenance needs and also promoting the amenities at these locations.
