Health Care Advisory Board

Applications are being accepted for one vacancy on the Health Care Advisory Board, a volunteer group that evaluates, monitors and discusses the healthcare services in Manatee County and makes recommendations to the County Commission regarding the funding of healthcare services of Manatee County.

Manatee County is accepting applications for one representative of the substance abuse field; one representative of a social service agency that typically focuses on the improvement of social welfare, self-sufficiency or addressing inequities; and two business representatives in Manatee County.

Applications are due Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.  Supplemental questions to the application are on page 5 of the form. A resume or C.V. is also required for consideration for appointment to this advisory board. Please note, all information provided within applications will be made public. The application is available for download at the top of this page. All applicants must complete the new form, even if they have applied previously since the application has been updated.


Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County Government, or individuals who contract with agencies that receive County funding are ineligible to serve on the board with the exception of practicing physician who may receive no more than one percent of their gross income from county-funded healthcare.


Applicants should be willing to meet a minimum of eight times per year on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5-7 p.m. on the 9th Floor BCC Conference Room of the County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West. Other meetings may be scheduled as necessary.

Planning Commission Advisory Board-One Vacancy

Planning Commission

Applications will be accepted until Friday, September 27, 2019 for one seat on the Planning Commission, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use items.

The vacancy is for a four year term that expires in October. The current Planning Commissioner is seeking reappointment.


  • Applicant must be a registered voter in Manatee County.
  • No particular expertise is required, but applicants with experience or training in planning, engineering, environmental science and the development industry may be given additional consideration for an appointment.
  • Planning Commission member cannot be employed by the County or serve as a member of another land development-related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.


The Planning Commission is composed of seven members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners for four-year terms.

The Planning Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Honorable Patricia M. Glass Chambers, located on the First Floor of the Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.
