- Recycling one ton of newspapers saves 17 trees. Recycling aluminum cans saves 95% of the energy needed to produce new cans from virgin materials.
- Recycling helps protect wildlife habitat and protects the environment from mining and other disruptions.
- Recycling helps curb global warming by reducing energy needs.
- Recycling stems the flow of water pollution by using far less water than manufacturing from virgin materials.
- Recycling reduces the need for landfills. It also extends the life of the County's Lena Road Landfill.
