The new Teen Room at G.T. Bray Park has plenty of activities for adolescents Teen Center
• Neos Wall -- the world’s first electronic play system.
• Foosball table
• Nintendo Wii
When you come to the G.T. Bray Recreation Center, you will be WOWED when you play NEOS, the world’s first electronic playsystem which combines the speed and fun of video games with the explosive movement of aerobic exercise to create the most physically challenging and exciting activity. In today’s video game culture, this is a great way to get kids off the couch and back to the business of playing. In fact, playing NEOS delivers a workout comparable to jogging or playing soccer, raising heart rates by an average of 20 percent.
“One of the biggest challenges is that teens just want a place to hang out...Our intent is to bring teens into a place where they can meet, hang out and have a sense of belonging without joining a gang and to introduce them to some constructive activities: fitness, wellness and a social gathering place.”
“We also asked ourselves, ‘How do we get teens now off that couch, to not just hang out, but how do we motivate them and introduce them to physical activity?’ "
"Neos is a large, computerized game and it has at least 10 or 15 different games you can play. I challenge anybody to play it for just two minutes. It will have you huffing and puffing. It’s a workout! It gets teens up and moving and engaged.”
