What is a map rollout?

Once a quarter, a new digital map is produced for the county's 9-1-1 computer-aided dispatch system which serves both the county's Emergency Communication Center (ECC) and the Sheriff's Communication Center (MSOCC).

It usually takes at least a day to produce this new set of maps on a separate system and several days to test it. Production of the map database is a highly-sophisticated process requiring great attention to detail and a thorough knowledge of both the process and the systems involved.

Once it has been thoroughly tested to make sure that addresses verify against the map correctly, it is rolled out (or copied) to the Live 9-1-1 system and tested again. The new map is then available to every dispatcher for use in responding to emergency (9-1-1) calls.
