Kay Rogers - September 2011

Hired 11/06/89 As Senior Administrative Specialist for the Public Works Department, Kay is relied upon for a sundry list of personnel and employment related duties as a result of her broad knowledge. Kay's knowledge, professional competence, initiative and sound mature judgement enables her to accomplish all duties assigned in a superior manner, thus allowing her to make superior contributions to Manatee County Government. Many employees verbalize a desire to change current systems, while Kay is one of the rare superstars that puts chatter into action. In addition to her tireless work related efforts, she also volunteers to assist with the United Way Campaign and the Fair Committee. Kay is just another shinning example of Manatee County Government's awesome employees. You rock Kay!

Billy Mason - August 2011
Employee of the Month
Hired 07/30/01 As Traffic Control Technician III, Billy serves the role of lead field technician for the Traffic Operations Signal Team. His duties include: operate, repair and maintain various traffic signal related devices, inspect new traffic signal construction projects, and assist in planning and overseeing in house construction projects. Billy understands teamwork and serves an important role in maintaining the solidarity of his work group. Because Billy takes “ownership” of each task at hand, it allows him to provide a level of personal investment and commitment into everything he does. In addition, ensuring a successful outcome and quality job every time and enhancing the safety of our motoring public. Billy is another fine example of the exemplary employees that the county has!
Randall Siebert - July 2011
Employee of the Month
Hired 05/12/01 As Building Supervisor, Randall is responsible for maintaining the DeSoto Center. He takes great pride in his building and the grounds surrounding it. Randall also is committed to finding ways to save the county and its citizen’s money. This year, he received an award for a $28, 0000 cost savings for the county to he suggested and implemented. Randy consistently strives to work beyond what may be expected of him. “Good Enough” would never be good enough for Randy. Way to go Randy!
Jose Rico - June 2011

Hired 09/20/05 As a Public Works Maintenance Technician I, Jose is responsible for trimming trees over roads and sidewalks, trim/remove brush, mow and edge sidewalks, graffiti removal and performing maintenance on county owned lots. Jose’s integrity and above average attitude shines with everything he does. He prides himself by performing preventative maintenance and has helped save the county money and time on tool repair and replacement. Jose looks at everything to see how it can best benefit the county and its citizen, whether it saving money or time. He approaches every job so to preserve and enhance the quality of life for Manatee County’s citizens, leaving every job he touches better than it was before. You rock Jose!
Randy West - May 2011

Hired 07/16/05 As a Park Ranger II, Randy performs tasks related to natural resource management, protection, maintenance, security, visitor services, and recreational opportunities occurring at our preserves. Randy's enthusiasm shines through in everything he does, whether it is while performing his daily duties, his exemplary relations with the public, volunteers, contractors, and fellow employees, or his commitment to conserving natural resources. He consistently performs above and beyond what is expected of him, ensuring that the preserve is secure after hours, going the extra mile to make sure volunteers feel appreciated, and displaying a high attention to detail. Among other things, this is what makes Randy such an exemplary employee. In addition to being chosen as employee of the month, Randy also received a Heroism Award for rescuing a gentleman that had been adrift in the chilling water for over two hours before being found. You rock Randy!
Debra-Lynn Leavenworth – April 2011

Hired 11/02/98 As Construction Coordinator, Debra is the liaison between the customer and the county. She performs a variety of highly responsible duties involved with designing and coordinating construction projects. Ms. Leavenworth exemplifies the qualities of Accountability, Civility and Ethics (A.C.E.) at all times. She is enthusiastic, committed and works non-stop. She exerts extra effort in an attempt to ensure that the County gets the best product, quality and price on every project she is involved in. Wroking harder and smarter with each project she completes! Debra is another example of a Manatee County Government shinning star employee. Way to go Debra!
Susan Angersoll – March 2011 Employee of the Month Hired 03/13/89 Among other things, Susan's job duties include researching development applications, assisting in preparation of staff resports and slide presentations, and attends and assists the Planners and Director at all public hearings and workshops. Susan accepts every job assigned to her with a true positive attitude, never complaining. Susan is also constantly thinking of new ways to improve the "way we do business". She is known for her initiative and willingness with helping others. Susan's name should be next to the definition of "team player" and we are certainly lucky to have her as part of the Manatee County Government Team!
Larry Ewain– February 2011 Employee of the Month

Larry assist in carrying out provisions of Solid Waste codes and ordinances. Along with his other duties, he monitors Solid Waste management procedures, violations, and corrective actions taken. Mr. Ewain, through his outstanding customer service, has illustrated the trait to serve with excellence. He has utilized his knowledge of the job and supporting ordinances and agreements to utilize these resources to achieve the highest level of customer support and resolve. As such, he continues to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Manatee County.
Kathy Peel – January 2011 Employee of the Month
Hired 01/09/89
Along with many other duties in her job as Captain of EMS, Kathy routinely responds to emergency and non-emergency 9-1-1 calls to assist and evaluate responding EMS crews; providing patient care including both emergency and non-emergency modes. Mrs. Peel's "can do" and "team" spirit show through her daily actions. She maintains a personal goal of conducting random acts of kindness for others. Kathy exemplifies the quality of employees that Manatee County Government has. Way to go Kathy!
Mark Fransen – 2010 Employee of the Year Hired 9/28/82
As Right-Of-Way Inspector, Mark inspects all permitted utility installations in the right-of-way, reviews and approves all traffic control plans, road closures for compliance with signage for the safety and general welfare of the public……..in addition to other duties. Mark is always going above and beyond. He is also continually looking for ways to enhance his own credentials for the betterment of the County. Mark’s expertise, initiative, and drive clearly exemplify the employee that he is.
