2011 Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR)

What is EAR?

 

The Comprehensive Plan provides information on existing conditions of the unincorporated area of Manatee County as well as a ”vision” or ”blueprint” for how the community should grow in the future – looking 20+ years in the future. The Plan addresses a wide range of long-term goals and strategies to implement the vision related to land use, transportation, parks, open space, housing, conservation and utilities as well as other issues that affect the community.
 
Every 7 years, an evaluation on the progress of implementing the Comprehensive Plan is required by Florida Statutes. (163.3191).
 
This evaluation reviews and responds to changes in state, regional, and local policies on planning and growth management, changing conditions and trends, intergovernmental coordination, and identifies major issues regarding the community's achievement of its goals.

Public hearings scheduled to date:

June 9th, 2011 - PC hearing

June 21, 2011 - BOCC hearing

Depending on when Gov Scott signs the Growth Management bill (HB 7207), the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) process will change significantly.  We anticipate the EAR will be  "accepted" or "adopted" by the Board of County Commissioners and not transmitted to DCA for review.

The Evaluation and Appraisal Report will serve as the data and analysis for follow up EAR-based amendments.
