Public invited to Oct. 25 Wares Creek Town Hall meeting

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Oct. 18, 2011) – The public is invited to an informational Town Hall meeting next week to discuss Phase I of the upcoming Wares Creek dredge project.

The Town Hall will be Tues., Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Ballard Elementary School auditorium, 912 18th St. W., Bradenton.


The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the project contractor and Manatee County Government staff will discuss their role in the flood control project. A question and answer period with the audience will follow the presentations.


During Phase I of the project, contractor Transwest Dredge will dredge an estimated 37,000 cubic yards of silt and mud from between the Ninth Avenue Bridge and the Manatee Avenue Bridge.


The dredged material will be dried at the former Bradenton City Hall site, at 15th Street West and Manatee Avenue West, and then trucked to the Lena Road Landfill for disposal.
