Manatee County accepting applications for Affordable Housing Advisory Board
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 24, 2011) – Manatee County has two openings on the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on affordable housing incentives.
The advisory board usually meets on an as-needed basis on the third Monday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W. The advisory board reviews policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and the comprehensive plan established and adopted by the County Commission while making recommendations on specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the property’s ability to appreciate in value.
The two vacancies are open to either:
• A Manatee County resident actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing;
• A Manatee County resident engaged as a not-for-profit provider in connection with affordable housing.
