Manatee County Government announces holiday closures
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Nov. 7, 2011) – Below is a listing of upcoming holiday closures across Manatee County Government.
Veterans Day (Friday, Nov. 11)
• County Government offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11;
• All libraries will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11;
• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11;
• All Manatee County Area Transit routes will remain in operation over the Veterans Day holiday weekend.
Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov. 24)
• County Government offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25;
• Because major holidays fall on weekend dates this year, only Thanksgiving trash collections will be impacted this holiday season. Thursday's collections will be made on Friday, Nov. 25 and Friday's collections will be made on Saturday, Nov. 26;
• Central, Island, Rocky Bluff libraries will close at 6 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 23. All libraries will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25;
• Fixed route, Handy Bus service and the Longboat Key Trolley will be suspended on Thursday, Nov. 24, and will resume on Friday, Nov. 25.
• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25.
Christmas (Sunday, Dec. 25)
• County Government offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26;
• All libraries will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26;
• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will close at noon on Saturday, Dec. 24 and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27;
• Manatee County and Buffalo Creek Golf Courses will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25, the only closure for the golf courses throughout the holiday season.
• Fixed route and Handy Bus service will be suspended at 3 p.m. and Anna Maria Island Trolley Service will be suspended at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24 and will resume on Monday, Dec. 26 at 5 a.m.
New Year’s Day (Sunday, Jan. 1)
• County Government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 2;
• All libraries will be closed Monday, Jan. 2;
• G.T. Bray Recreation Center will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 1 and Monday, Jan. 2;
• All Manatee County Area Transit routes will operate normal hours on Saturday, Dec. 31 but will be suspended on Sunday, Jan. 1.
Other information
The Anna Maria Island Trolley and the Beach Express will have no service interruption throughout the holiday season. Manatee County’s passive parks, beaches and preserves will remain open throughout the holidays. G.T. Bray Skate Park will also remain open every day throughout the holidays. Blackstone Skate Park is currently closed for repairs and will be closed throughout the holiday season.
